James Scott Apps, 49, died Sept. 9, 2000, at a Topeka Hospital from a heart attack. He was born Oct. 15, 1950, at Fort Scott, KS, the son of Edwin Ray and Roma Lorraine Glenn Apps. He received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and attended one year of law school at Washburn University, Hutchinson. He owned ABR Armored Car Service and was a former sales rep at Builders Square, Topeka. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in Vietnam 69-1970. Stephen Lee ‘Steve’ Baar, DVM, 66, died Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at his home from pancreatic cancer. He was born November 1, 1950, in Hutchinson, to Edward and Elinor (Bargdill) Baar. Steve graduated in 1968 from Hutchinson High School, 1975 from Fort Hays State University, and received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1979 from Kansas State University. On February 14, 2003, he married Cherie Ginest in Canyon, Texas. Steve is survived by: his bride, Cherie of Turon; stepdaughter, Chelsie Fowler (Gabe) of Andover; stepson, Troy Elbert (Chrissy) of St. Joseph, Missouri; nine grandchildren; an aunt; an uncle; and cousins. Robert E "Bob" Benbow, 56, died April 15, 2006 at Hutchinson Hospital from Septicemia. He was born on February 24, 1950 in Garden City, KS to Edwin and Ruth Holmes Benbow. Moved to Hutchinson in 1955. After high school attended Hutchinson Community College. He was a state and federal certified welder at Grainspouting and Elevators, Fabricators Inc., Lackey Construction and Superior Boilers, then opened Classic Cleaning, Hutchinson. Ernest "Ernie" W. Buckaloo, 52, died Nov. 22, 2000, due to a heart attack in Joplin, Mo. He was born March 19, 1949, at Elkhart, Ks, the son of Pete (died Sept. 12, 1970) and Viola Sharp Buckaloo (died Apr. 15, 2005.) He was a 1968 graduate of Hutchinson High School and had attended Wichita State University. He drove a truck for Dillons for 25 years and most recently for WalMart. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Korea and Vietnam. On Dec.1, 1989, he married Rita Garrett at Hutchinson, she survives. Other survivors include: two sons, Matt and Nick, both of Hutchinson. She graduated in 1968 from Hutchinson High School and on May 14, 1999, she graduated from Hutchinson Community College. A resident of Hutchinson since 1960, she was a Health Information Technician for the Hutchinson Ambulatory Surgery Center. On Nov. 27, 1971, she married Gary A. Davis in South Hutchinson. Diana Lynn (Cole) Copper, 58, died June 5, 2008, at her home in Hayden Lake, ID., after a long battle with cancer. She was born April 1, 1950 in Hutchinson, Kansas; the oldest daughter of Lynn and LaVern Cole. She was preceded in death by her two parents; two sisters Karen Cole and Robyn Kahr and her second husband Ray Copper. She is survived by four brothers: Robert (Ocala, FL), Richard (Lawrence, KS), Randy (Hutchinson, KS) and Neal (Champaign, IL); two sisters Janice Zahn and Renee Cole (both of Hutchinson). Diana had three daughters: Daphne (Hayden Lake, ID), Carren (Mountain Home, ID), Corrienne (Macon, GA) and has eleven Grandchildren. She was a graduate of Hutchinson Kansas High School, class of '68, Hutchinson Community College and University of Idaho – Pocatello with a Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy. After graduation from the University of Idaho, she moved to Grangeville, Idaho where she met and married her second husband Ray Copper. She was a Pharmacist in the local area, working last at Medicine Man Pharmacy. Diana was part of a dance ministry group, enjoyed the great outdoors, gardening, flowers and wildlife. She was an avid animal lover, especially cats of all kinds. She was a quite religious person, who touched us with her kindness and warmth toward others. She will be missed by all who knew her. Roger Allen Daines, 68, was born on November 24, 1949 and passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018. Roger was a resident of Hutchinson, Kansas at the time of passing. Roger graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1968, and then joined the United States Navy, serving for four years. He worked for various companies, retiring as a truck driver. A lifetime resident of Hutchinson, Roger never knew a stranger. He enjoyed the outdoors: hunting, fishing, yard work (especially flowers, and woodworking. David Frank Danks, 65, of Bentonville, Ark, left this life for a much better one at Willard Walker Hospice in Fayetteville, Ark. on Sunday, April 17, 2016, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's. He was born on June 16, 1950, in Greenville, Kentucky, to the late Betty Jean and David Danks. Dave grew up in Hutchinson, Kansas and graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1968. After serving two years in the U.S. Navy, Dave returned to Hutchinson where he worked at Jackson's Ice Cream until he retired in 1998. He married Becky Haisty Paneitz in 1998 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and they started their life together in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he embarked upon his new career in golf course maintenance. In August 2003, Dave and Becky moved to northwest Arkansas where he lived until his death. His parents and his grandparents preceded him in death. Larry E. Dodge, 64, died Feb. 14, 2015 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born May 16, 1950, the son of Leroy Eugene and Melva Cooper Dodge. He was a graduate of Hutchinson High School, class of 1968, and had received his Bachelor of Theology from Baptist Bible College and Bachelor of Music Education from Oklahoma Baptist University. He was a music teacher for Hutchinson Schools and retired from Holy Cross Catholic School in May of 2012. Since retirement he has substituted for various schools. He was a very active member of Westside Baptist Church. He loved to sing and was known for his singing voice. On August 12, 1972 he married Phyllis Hall in Hutchinson. She survives. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed working on old cars. He was the proud owner and operator of Mike's Sun City Auto Care in Peoria, Arizona. Richard Merle Farney Jr., 63, died June 19, 2014 in Hutchinson, Ks., from Agent Orange. He was born Oct 13, 1950 to Richard Merle Farney (died 1999) and Margie LeaFarney (died 2014). Richard devoted himself to be the best caregiver of aging parents. He served his country with military service in the United States Army as a sergeant, spending 14 months in Vietnam. Richard loved nature and was passionate about plants and flowers, making it fitting that he chose landscaping as his profession. Clearly, he touched many people and has left his footprint. He had been employed in the inside sales department for Superior Boiler Works and had formerly worked for Westlake Hardware, South Main location and was an Engineer for Cessna/Eaton. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the 101st Airborne Division, and had received the Bronze Star. He married Joyce Feezor, June 15, 2001 in Hutchinson; she died September 23, 2015. Survivors include two brothers; George D. Feezor (Linda), Albuquerque, NM, Kenneth L. Juan Gonzales, 69, of Hutchinson, passed from this life on November 14, 2018. He was born July 1, 1949, in Hutchinson, the 7th child of Juan Florez and Guadalupe (Martinez) Gonzales. Juan was a member of Hutchinson High School class of 1968 and earned an associate’s degree from HCC. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam era. Juan was an accomplished bass player, playing in bands from the age of 14. Preparing food for people was his way of showing his love of food and people and he was the owner of Juan’s Restaurant in northern California and the Crazy Horse Dining Hall in Arlington. Juan showed his skill at building and mentoring as the Special Projects Developer and Transitional Jobs Coordinator for people coming through New Beginnings and rebuilding their lives. Vicki Jo (Harman) Biggs, 63, born June 27, 1950, passed away of natural causes on June 11, 2014 in Los Alamos, NM. She was preceded in death by her parents Everett and May Belle Harman. Vicki was a resident of Los Alamos for 26 years. She was a dedicated special education teacher for 32 years and was a member of the White Rock United Methodist Church, where she played in the English Hand Bell Choir and was a member of the Church quilting group. Vicki was also a member of the Chapter AK, PEO Sisterhood. She enjoyed hiking, boating, and she traveled extensively with her husband of 37 years Thomas Biggs. Vicki is survived by her loving husband Thomas L. Biggs of Los Alamos; sister Pat and Kevin Lorenz of Kansas; Chris Orlando of Kansas, and Alyssa Lorenz of Seattle, Wash.; brother and sister-in-law Bill and Lois Biggs of Missouri. Mary attended Nickerson and Yates Center High Schools, later earning her G.E.D. in Hutchinson. She married Tim Pitts on March 23, 1969. They later divorced. She later married Phil Zink on November 29, 1991. He passed away March 12, 2016. Constance Vicki (Kiene) Ediger, 66, of Hutchinson, died Wednesday, April 13, 2016 from complication with Multiple Sclerosis. She was born Jan. 18, 1950, in Bermuda, the daughter of William and Connie (Jenks) Kiene. She was a 1968 graduate of Hutchinson High School and a graduate of Hutchinson Community College and Wichita State University. Vicki was a dental hygienist at the Dental Center for 25 years and longtime member of Park Place Christian Church, Hutchinson. She is survived by: her son, Dr. Kory V. Ediger and wife Heather and grandchildren, William, Evan and Lily Ediger, all of Hutchinson. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Van Kiene.
Stephen K. Kline, 51, died Oct. 31, 2001, at Hospice Residential Care Center, Hutchinson. He was born May 30, 1950, in Hutchinson, the son of William L. and Dorothy Shields Kline. He was a 1968 graduate of Hutchinson High School, a 1971 graduate of Barcelona University, and a 1972 graduate of Kansas University. He was a Vice President Of the former Kline Insurance Agency, Hutchinson. He was a member of Park Place Christian Church, Prairie Dunes County Club and Optimist Club, all of Hutchinson; KUAlumni Association and Sigma Chi fraternity. Robert G. LaClair, 61, died Jan. 24, 2012, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center from a heart attack. He was born Dec. 7, 1950, in Hutchinson, to Gene (died 1999) and Beverly (Beal) LaClair (died 2019). He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1968. A lifetime Hutchinson resident, Bob was a core purchaser at Consolidated Manufacturing from 1967-1992. He was a truck driver at Mid America Redi-Mix for 14 years and at Royer Brothers Tree Service since May 2008. Bob loved to spend time with his grandchildren and attend their activities. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and going to the lake. On Dec.16, 1967, he married Valarie L. Plouffe in Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors include: son, James J. LaClair (Tasia) of Hutchinson; daughter, Darcy L. Mikels (David) of Northville, Mich.; seven grandchildren. Larry A. Lee, 57, Lathrop, Mo., died Sept. 10, 2006, at Liberty Hospital, Liberty, Mo. He had a heart attack while shopping with his wife. Born April 15, 1949, in Hutchinson, Kan., he lived here until entering the U.S. Army in 1970. He retired from the Army in 1993, serving twenty-three years at the rank of E-8 (First Sergeant) and lived in Lathrop, Mo. In 1977), he met Linda Adams while being stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C. She survives of the home along with other family members. Larry was with the 82nd Airborne as a Paratrooper; Senior Drill Instructor and Field Artilleryman. He then worked for Northrup Grumman as a defense contractor. He was also a substitute teacher and ISS teacher for Lathrop School District. He loved hunting, fishing and making his own fishing lures. Michael H. Lemen, 67, was born in Hutchinson, Ks. on July 4, 1950. The son of Howard C. and Jaunita (Emery) Lemen went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Feb. 27, 2018, after a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Mike was a devoted husband and family man. He was married to his high school sweetheart for 47 wonderful years. He spent many enjoyable hours coaching both daughters softball teams through grade school and loved relaxing on his lawn mower. He was an avid dog lover raising and training German Shepherds and went on many vacation trips throughout the US and abroad. He was a faithful member of the Northridge Friends Church and had a servants heart volunteering in various ministries. He was also a youth mentor for Youth Horizons. Graduated from WSU with a degree in Administration of Justice and before retiring, he managed Logistics for Spirit AeroSystems. Mike was proud of his military service, serving a tour in Vietnam with the US Army. Mike is survived by: his wife, Bridget; daughters, Molley (Jeremy) Taylor, Melissa (Luke) Tucker; granddaughters, Brooke and Jillian Taylor, and Claire Tucker; mother, Juanita Lemen; brothers, Cliff, David (Lindy), Greg (Barbara) Lemen; two devoted furry friends, Kaiser and Little Buddy. She will be missed by all who loved her dearly. Theodore “Ted” Allen Ocker, 66, born June 27, 1950, died Nov. 22, 2016 in Colorado Springs, Co., from Pancreatic Cancer. He joined the Army National Guard out of high school and retired from the Guard in 1990. He then went to work for the Kansas Dept. of Corrections for sixteen years and retired in 2016. After coming to Colorado Springs, he went to work for a gluten free bakery as a delivery driver from 2008-2013. After leaving Outside the Breadbox, he did some contract driving for a concierge service shuttling cars back and forth between Denver and Colorado Springs. Kathleen Ogle Ronnebaum, 69, of Baileyville, Kansas passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 7, 2019 at the family farm home, northwest of St. Benedict. Kathleen (Kate) suffered from ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) since early 2016. Kathleen was born on March 12, 1950 in Stafford, Kansas, daughter of Virgil and Esther Carter Ogle. The family moved to Hutchinson in 1955, where Kathleen attended elementary through high school. She graduated from Grinnell College in Iowa in 1972 with a degree in history with an emphasis on Slavic studies. She earned a master’s degree in elementary education from Emporia State University in 1974 and a master’s degree in special education with an emphasis in gifted education from Kansas State University in 1980. She had moved to Seneca, Kansas in 1973 where she taught in Nemaha Valley Public School and the Nemaha-Marshall Special Education Co-op for 30 years. She and Elmer Ronnebaum were married on October 30, 1976 at St. Mary’s Church in St. Benedict, Kansas. Kathleen taught gifted students for the majority of her career. She also loved reading, baking, gardening, and travel. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents. David Lynn Perrin, 65, died February 3, 2015 in Tahuya, WA, unknown cause. He was born on Nov. 11, 1949 in Little River, Kan. to Ralph and Emma May Perrin . Daniel S. Pierce, age 66, of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away at his residence on Wednesday, January 25, 2017. Daniel was born in Monett, Missouri on September 6, 1950, the son of the late Phillip Pierce (died 2009) and Wanda Pierce (died 2017) in Wichita, KS. He had worked many years as Warehouse Manager with Daymark Foods prior to his retirement. Daniel loved fishing with his family and friends and was Baptist by faith. He is survived by his wife, Betty Evans Pierce of forty three years, son Daniel Steven Pierce, Jr., Villa Rica, Georgia, brothers Doug Pierce, Kansas and David Pierce, Texas and grandson. Jerry Dale Polk, Sr., 62, died July 7, 2012, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, needing a liver transplant. He was born Dec. 12, 1949, in Hutchinson, the son of Calvin A.(died 2015) and Earline E. (Stoughton) Polk. He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1968, and then attended college on a baseball scholarship, playing first for McPherson College and then Kansas State University. After college he went on to play on a minor league team of the Detroit Tigers. He then became the general manager for the Nashville Sounds, a minor league team for the Yankees, and was most recently the general manager for the Fort Worth Drillers. Jerry enjoyed coaching for the American Legion Teams. In 1980 he married Ann Marie Russell. She preceded him in death. He then married Kim Disney on May 19, 2004, in Knoxville, Tenn. He is survived by his wife of Hurst, Texas. Roger Leon Ragland, 65, died Nov. 22, 2015, from a heart attack at New Castle, Ok. He was born April 24, 1950 in Hutchinson, KS to Marvin Leon and Wanda Mae Ragland. After graduating from Hutchinson High School, he continued his education at Baptist Bible College in Kansas, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Theology and Missions. Roger honorably served his country in the Kansas National Guard and the Army National Guard. He married the love of his life, Vickie Carol Keller and together they shared many years of marriage and raising a large family. This union of marriage was blessed with sons John, Timothy, Jacob and Anthony. They also extended their parental love and guidance to 17 foster children, positively impacting their lives for many years to come. Bruce Kent Reimer, 48, born May 22, 1950, died Sept., 3, 1998 in Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, N.C., as the result of a traffic accident. He was a resident of Hummelstown, Pa. He was an engineer and a corrective-action coordinator for GPU Nuclear; a graduate of Kansas State University; had been a coach in the South Hanover Twp. softball league; and was a member of Derry Presbyterian Church, Hershey, Pa., and the TMI Golf League. Surviving are his wife, Yvonne Sellers Reimer ; two daughters, Molly and Melissa, at home; his father and stepmother, Ernest (died 2010() and Marian Reimer (died 2007) of Hutchinson, Kan.; and two brothers, Charles & Debbie Reimer, South Hutchinson and Steven & Janice Reimer, Hutchinson. Charlotte Mae (Reynard) Ebbert, 68, formerly of Hutchinson, died peacefully August 29, 2019, surrounded by family and friends, in Lake Elsinore, CA., from congestive heart failure. She was born December 19, 1950, in Hutchinson, to Dale and Gladys (Holloway) Reynard. Charlotte married and moved to Iran before returning to Kansas, where she later divorced and moved to Texas. Michael E. Schroeder, 56, died Dec. 9, 2006, at Hutchinson Hospital. He was born March 7, 1950, in Larned, the son of Ted and Geraldine Hendershot Schroeder. In 1968, he graduated from Hutchinson High School, and later attended Hutchinson Community College. A lifetime Hutchinson resident, he was a delivery tech for Health Equip for 11 years. He belonged to Park Place Christian Church, attended Friends Bible Church and was a member of Loyal Order of Moose No. 982. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. On Jan. 22, 1983, he married Sherry Lynn Hullet in Hutchinson. She survives. Steve A. Stanfill, 65, died July 17, 2015, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center due to a blood clot to the lungs. He was born Feb. 21, 1950, in Hutchinson, to Arthur and Cyria (Delrosario) Stanfill. Steve graduated from Hutchinson Community College, Wichita State University, and from an accelerated class at the University of Kansas, graduating Suma Cum Laude, with an MBA in social work and business. He enjoyed spreading the word of Jesus, golfing and kayaking. Steve was an owner and operator of Stanfill Brother Wood Signs, America Media Systems and Motherboards Outdoor and Art Studio Signs in Hutchinson. He married Tammy Wilcox Aug. 13, 1985, in Inman. Marcus "Marc" Stoesz, 18, died in a car accident early Saturday morning, February 10, 1968, near Hutchinson, along with his classmate and friend Frank Gilliland. The vehicle they were in overturned on a county road three miles northwest of Hutchinson. He was born Feb. 25, 1949 in Madison, Wisconsin to Dr. and Mrs. Paul A Stoesz, and a senior at Hutchinson High School and had lived here since 1954. He is survived by his parents of the home; grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. A.D. Stoesz, Lincoln, Neb; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lowe, Souix City, Iowa; sister Darcy, of the home; brothers, David, Wichita; Timothy, of the home. Judy Ann (Stunkel) Green, 60, died December 30, 2010, at Hospice House. She was born September 16, 1950, in Ft. Worth, Texas, the daughter of August Louis Stunkel and Alice Marie Heathcott Stunkel Adams. She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1968. She was a homemaker, secretary and worked in medical records. On June 19, 1993, she married Alan Paul Green in Hutchinson. He survives. William "Bill" Eugene White, 66, suffered a stroke March 30, 2016 at Edwards, MS. A private family graveside service at Edwards Cemetery. William was a man that loved God with all his heart, soul, strength and mind. He was born on September 2, 1949 in Hutchinson, Kansas. His mother is a wonderful piano/organ player and teacher. He grew up with that love of music. After graduating from high school, William served with honor in the United States Navy. After that is when he began his life long journey to know the truth of God's Word and to be His faithful servant. William played blues in New Orleans, LA with Bryan Lee & the Jump Street Five and that is where he met his wife of 30 years, Linda. They moved to Mississippi 22 years ago and he worked for Ameristar Casino until recently retiring. He had many plans for retirement, finally having time to write a book on the Book of James was one of his most important desires. William left his imprint on the lives of all those that knew him. His persona was engaging to everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by all those that had the privilege to know him and be impacted by his faith.

Jessica L. Whitlock, 59, died Jan. 22, 2008, at Hutchinson Hospital. She was born Aug. 20, 1948, in Wichita, the daughter of Burt L. and Virginia L. Streeter Whitlock. She graduated from Hutchinson High School. She was a resident of the Kansas Elks Training Program in Wichita, New Horizons in Valley Center, and was with Disability Supports of the Great Plains, while in Hutchinson. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial service at Grace Episcopal Church. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will be in the Church Columbarium.
Candace S. (Wiggins) Bos, 51, died August 13, 2001 in Austin, Texas. She was born May 27, 1950, in Independence, Mo., and graduated in 1972 from Drury College in Springfield, Mo., earned a master's degree from the University of Miami in 1974 and her doctorate at the UA in 1979. Bos taught at the UA for more than 18 years and became a national leader in the field of educating children with learning disabilities. In 1999 she left the UA to teach at the University of Texas at Austin as a professor in the department of special education. She was past president of a division of the Council for Exceptional Children, and wrote more than 100 scholarly articles and books, as well as several programs for learning disabled children. Her husband, Robert Bos, and son, Jon, survive her.
Gordon L. Willems, 66, passed away Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born March 11, 1950, in Hutchinson, to Pete and Esther (Loepp) Willems. Gordon graduated from Hutchinson High School, Hutchinson Community College and the University of Kansas, with a degree in accounting. He worked at Pierce Faris, Kansas Oxygen, Dillon Employees Credit Union and El Cap Credit Union in Hutchinson; and the Credit Union of Dodge City, Dodge City Community College, the Silver Spur Lodge and Convention Center, and Schroeder’s Software in Dodge City. Gordon was a member of First Mennonite Church. On Nov. 24, 1973, he married Judy Petty in Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors include: his mother; daughters, Angela Koehn (Craig) of Montezuma and Stefanie Willems of Hutchinson; grandson, Andrew Jonas Koehn of Monetzuma; brother, Ray Willems (Arlene) of Hutchinson; sister, Linda Barone of Hutchinson; and sister-in-law, Patricia Enlow (Al) of Coppell, Texas; along with many nephews and nieces. He was a proud member of the Hutchinson High Class of 1968 and enjoyed keeping in touch with classmates and helping them to stay connected with one another. He took great joy in serving others and lending a helping hand, and was devoted to his family. Cremation has taken place. David Paul Wilson, 65, died of chronic obstuctive pulmonary disease, April 13, 2015, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born Dec. 10, 1949 in Hutchinson, to Merle and Rosemary (Cyphert) Wilson. He was a respected craftsman and former concrete foreman. Dave was a remarkable man full of knowledge, who had a passion for woodworking and an art for concrete finishing. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and time with his family. His pride and joy were his kids and grandkids. Dave married Debi Payne April 12, 1969, in Hutchinson. They just celebrated 46 wonderful years together.
