Stephen Lee ‘Steve’ Baar, DVM, 66, died Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at his home from pancreatic cancer. He was born November 1, 1950, in Hutchinson, to Edward and Elinor (Bargdill) Baar. Steve graduated in 1968 from Hutchinson High School, 1975 from Fort Hays State University, and received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1979 from Kansas State University. On February 14, 2003, he married Cherie Ginest in Canyon, Texas. Steve is survived by: his bride, Cherie of Turon; stepdaughter, Chelsie Fowler (Gabe) of Andover; stepson, Troy Elbert (Chrissy) of St. Joseph, Missouri; nine grandchildren; an aunt; an uncle; and cousins. He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Doug Baar; stepson, Dustin Elbert; and a grandson. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service September 18, 2017, at Turon Community Church. Leslie “Randal” Baugh was born August 29, 1950, in Hutchinson, to two loving parents, Harold and Phyllis Baugh. He passed away on September 8, 2022, at the VA Medical Center in Wichita. Randal was raised in Hutchinson and graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1968. He attended Hutchinson Community College, playing basketball under legendary coach, Gene Keady. Randal served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War in 1971. He began his career as a truck driver for Krause Plow (formerly) for over 25 years. Randal retired from driving in 2020, after several years as an independent contractor. He was known and loved for his quick wit, infectious smile, strong work ethic, and love for his family. Randal loved spending time with his loved ones and talking about sports and life. He raised three sons with Sheri Lynn: Jason, Marques, and DeAndre Baugh. Randal is survived by: his children, Jason, Marques, and Deandre Baugh; brothers, Ricky and Roger; sister, Roxanne; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews; and countless lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by: his parents; a sister, Ruth; and nephews, Xavier and Todd Baugh. His legacy will be carried on by his 5 loving grandchildren who loved their papa very much. His life will be celebrated and honored at 11 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2022 at Elliott Chapel, with a celebration of life to follow at the Homebuilder’s Shelter in Carey Park. Frank Lynn Bean, 72, died unexpectedly February 20, 2023 at his home in Hutchinson, KS. He was born July 14, 1950, in Hutchinson, to Frank Buford and Betty Berniece (Gennetten) Bean. Frank graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1968, Hutchinson Community Junior College in 1970, Pittsburg State University in 1972, and received his Master’s Degree from Emporia State University in 1974. Frank was a passionate coach who lived and breathed coaching. He enjoyed all types of sports, but helping athletes excel in football was his favorite. Above all, Frank loved his family unconditionally. Frank’s coaching career started June 1978 when he was the assistant football coach at San Francisco State University, until January 1982. He continued coaching in various locations and for multiple teams in the USFL, Los Angeles, CA, and at Hutchinson High School. Frank then began his coaching career at Garden City Community College and Garden City High School. While coaching at Garden City High School, he was fortunate to coach his two sons, Mitchell and Braden. Frank ended his coaching career at Wichita East High School and Kapaun Mt. Carmel High School, Wichita. Frank grew up at First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, and was currently attending Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson. He had a strong faith, and a stronger sense of humor. Frank is survived by: daughter, Ashlee (Jose) Guillen of Hutchinson; sons, Mitchell Bean of Fayetteville, AR, and Braden Bean of Austin, TX; children’s mother, Rebecca Martinez of New Braunfels, TX; his mother, Betty Bean of Lawrence; sisters, Sharie (Dave) Mueller of Oskaloosa, KS, and Cindy (James) Nelson of St. Paul, MN.; and five grandchildren, Elizae Guillen, Navaii Guillen, Audden Guillen, Brilin Guillen, and Damien Sandoval. He was preceded in death by his father. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1602 N. Main, with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery and Pastor Steve Baughan officiating. Viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2023, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. Robert E "Bob" Benbow, 56, died April 15, 2006 at Hutchinson Hospital from Septicemia. He was born on February 24, 1950 in Garden City, KS to Edwin ( died June 17 1994) and Ruth Holmes Benbow (died June 27, 1999). Moved to Hutchinson in 1955. After high school attended Hutchinson Community College. He was a state and federal certified welder at Grainspouting and Elevators, Fabricators Inc., Lackey Construction and Superior Boilers, then opened Classic Cleaning, Hutchinson. He was a former member of the Hutchinson Treasure Hunters, member of the American Society of Marble Collectors, and he and his daughter, Carrie, were active in bottle shows all around the State of Kansas.He was the manager of the band Tumbleweed, he ran light and sound, and sang with the group from 1975 to 1980. He was an avid antique collector, artist, singer, songwriter, musician and poet. On June 13, 1970 he married Carolyn McElravy in Hutchinson. They had two daughters, Carrie, married to Greg Wellborn, Wichita, KS and Sarah, married to Nelson Butt, Phoenix, AZ. He married Susan Rottering Dunn on November 3, 1988 in Hutchinson. With this marriage Bob added two sons to his life, Ken Dunn who is married to Gwen, Acworth, GA and Jason Dunn who is married to Melissa, Chandler, AZ. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Caty, Curt, Renee and Matthew and three sisters, Nancy Caldwell and her husband Jim, Winston, MO, Judy Spence and Patty Hawkinson and her husband Leonard "Hawk", both in Hutchinson. Burial in Fairlawn Burial Park.

Ellis Billingslea, 66, passed away Sept. 22, 2016 at his home in Wylie, Tx suffering a heart attack. Ellis was born Sept 18, 1950. Ellis served in the Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran. Wayne E. Brawner, Jr, 74, of Hutchinson, died June 29, 2024, at his home. He was born January 3, 1950, to Wayne E and Rhea Dewater Brawner, Sr, in Waterloo, IA. He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1968. After graduation, he served in the US Navy aboard the USS Midway in Vietnam. Wayne began working for the Kansas Department of Corrections in 1973 retiring in 2009. On March 27, 1973, he married Janet Proctor in Hutchinson. They shared just over 51 years together. She survives. Wayne is survived by: wife, Janet of Hutchinson; and son, Scott and his wife Jeni of Castle Rock, Colorado. As per his wishes, there will be no funeral services. Cremation has taken place.

Ernest "Ernie" W. Buckaloo, 52, died Nov. 22, 2000, due to a heart attack in Joplin, Mo. He was born March 19, 1949, at Elkhart, Ks, the son of Pete (died Sept. 12, 1970) and Viola Sharp Buckaloo (died Apr. 15, 2005.) He was a 1968 graduate of Hutchinson High School and had attended Wichita State University. He drove a truck for Dillons for 25 years and most recently for WalMart. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Korea and Vietnam. On Dec.1, 1989, he married Rita Garrett at Hutchinson, she survives. Other survivors include: two sons, Matt and Nick, both of Hutchinson. Two sisters: Christine Engle, Buhler, and Frances McKelvy, Hutchinson; and a graddaughter. Two brothers, Charles (died Nov. 3, 2018) and Michael (died July 30, 2000). Pamela Jane Wheeler, 75, passed away on July 13, 2025, at Hospice House in Hutchinson, KS. Pam was born on May 5, 1950, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Lawrence and Dorothy (Ellis) Burgess. Pam graduated with the 1968 class of Hutchinson High School and got her degree in business at Sterling College. On April 25, 1968, Pam married her high school sweetheart, Charles Wheeler. Together Pam and Charlie were never shy, with starting new adventures and businesses. Soon after marriage they opened their first business, a specialty cigar shop. Pam earned her real-estate license and started a many decades long career in home sales. She also enjoyed traveling, so she started a career as a travel agent. Pam’s parents built and ran the R-B Drive In for 35 years. When her parents decided to retire, Pam and Charlie bought the Drive In from her parents and then owned it for another 35 years. During all this time of helping her husband to manage the restaurant, Pam sold real estate and continued as a travel agent. Pam never slowed down, she loved to travel. Pam and Charlie enjoyed going to Vegas and having fun at casinos. They also enjoyed going on cruises to the Caribbean and other exotic places. They traveled the globe. Pam had a well accomplished life. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bradley Burgess and Dudley Burgess. She is survived by her husband, Charles Wheeler; son, Chuck (Erin) Wheeler; sister in law, Karen Burgess and two grandchildren, Jolee and Vincent Wheeler, all of Hutchinson; and her two precious puppy girls, Lizzy and MiTi. Per Pam’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Frends may sign her book Tuesday-Friday from 9:00 – 4:30 p.m. at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson, KS. Sandy Lynn (Burgin) Munn, 56, died September 28, 2006 from liver cancer at Martinez, CA. She was born September 9, 1950 to Orville and Ruth Burgin and they both have passed. She previously had married classmate David Dole. Sandy's brother Steven W. Burgin, 57, died, April 30, 2005, a year earlier at Modesto, CA from a stroke. Then her mother Ruth F Burgin died April 20, 2012 in Martinez, CA.
