Steven L. Canon, 45, died Feb. 23, 1996, at KU Medical due to a heart attack. He was born Nov. 14, 1950, the son of Carl and Thursa Fox Cannon. An Oak Grove, Mo., resident, he was employed as a machinist at the Grain Valley Tool and Manufacturing. He attended the Oak Grove Christian Church. He was a U.S. Navy Vietnam Veteran. In November 1969, he married Sharon K Chastaln in Hutchinson, KS. Burial in Oak Grove. Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
Diana Lynn (Card) Correll, 37, died Sept. 29, 1988, at Southwest Medical Center, Liberal. Born Diana Lynn Card Nov. 12, 1950, at Oceansidc, Calif, to Ivan R and Iva Mae Miller Card. She married James H. Correll Sept. 28, 1972, at Salina. She attended school in Hutchinson, Kansas but graduated from Sublette Kansas High School. After graduation she attended Wichita Business School. She was a former employee of Kline Insurance Agency, Hutchinson, and the Salina Journal, in the classified advertising department. Bruce M Cavanaugh, 47, of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, formerly of Hutchinson, construction worker, died May 3, 1998. He was born Nov 16, 1950. Bruce was a Hutchinson resident until moving to South Carolina, and later to the Virgin Islands. He was a former member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hutchinson, KS. Survivors: mother, Amelia of Hutchinson (died 2000); brother, Craig of Columbia, S.C.; sisters, Debra Taege of Ralston, Neb., Lucinda Ward, Colleen Belote, both of Hutchinson, Rebecca Logan of Brush, Colo., Regina Cavanaugh of Wichita, Kathy DeLaRosa of Ardmore, Okla. Martha A (Chambers) Davis, 51, died June 9, 2008 in Hutchinson from Leukemia. She was born Aug 28, 1950. She graduated in 1968 from Hutchinson High School and on May 14, 1999, she graduated from Hutchinson Community College. A resident of Hutchinson since 1960, she was a Health Information Technician for the Hutchinson Ambulatory Surgery Center. On Nov. 27, 1971, she married Gary A. Davis in South Hutchinson. He survives. Other survivors include: a son, Brian and wife Angie, Hutchinson; daughter, Kellie Chastain and husband D. J., Hutchinson; brother, Cecil Chambers and Bonnie, Hutchinson; sister, Kathy Wilson and husband Steve, Hutchinson; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and Marion and Igene Benton, the uncle and aunt who raised her after the death of her parents. Burial in Fairlawn Burial Park.
Andy Chandler ,64, of Siloam Springs, AR died May 30, 2013 in Fayetteville, Arkansas and cause unknown. He was born March 9, 1949 in Hutchinson, Kansas. He married Deborah Cerveny on October 4, 1986 in Chicago, Ill. Andrew was an independent truck driver for many years, and enjoyed riding motorcycles and working with wood. Survivors include his wife, Deborah Chandler of the home; one daughter, Amanda Chandler of Kansas City, MO; one son, Jason Chandler of Colcord, OK. His parents, and his sister Audrey Chandler preceded him in death.
Diana Lynn (Cole) Copper, 58, died June 5, 2008, at her home in Hayden Lake, ID., after a long battle with cancer. She was born April 1, 1950 in Hutchinson, Kansas; the oldest daughter of Lynn and LaVern Cole. She was preceded in death by her two parents; two sisters Karen Cole and Robyn Kahr and her second husband Ray Copper. She is survived by four brothers: Robert (Ocala, FL), Richard (Lawrence, KS), Randy (Hutchinson, KS) and Neal (Champaign, IL); two sisters Janice Zahn and Renee Cole (both of Hutchinson). Diana had three daughters: Daphne (Hayden Lake, ID), Carren (Mountain Home, ID), Corrienne (Macon, GA) and has eleven Grandchildren. She was a graduate of Hutchinson Kansas High School, class of '68, Hutchinson Community College and University of Idaho – Pocatello with a Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy. After graduation from the University of Idaho, she moved to Grangeville, Idaho where she met and married her second husband Ray Copper. She was a Pharmacist in the local area, working last at Medicine Man Pharmacy. Diana was part of a dance ministry group, enjoyed the great outdoors, gardening, flowers and wildlife. She was an avid animal lover, especially cats of all kinds. She was a quite religious person, who touched us with her kindness and warmth toward others. She will be missed by all who knew her. Burial in Prairie View Cemetery, Grangeville, ID.
Judy A Collins King - 65, died June 24, 2014 from smoke inhalation house fire. She was born on April 27, 1949, the daughter of Raymond Dale and Viola Elizabeth Brandt Collins. She was a machinist at Cessna-Eaton. She was involved in the Moose, V. F. W., machinist Union, women’s bowling association, the Salt City Cruiser Car club, and the APA Pool league. Survivors include: her husband, Dale E. King; two daughters, Connie Sowers and husband Kevin, Paula Sanders and husband Jessie; son, Robert King; a sister, Sharon Jarrett; a brother, Larry Collins.. Graveside service held July 7, 2014, at Rayl’s Hill, Penwell- Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum.
Donna Louise (Cotter) Strong, 73, passed away March 6, 2021 at Hutchinson, KS. Donna was born March 5, 1948 to Virgil and Rosa Cotter in Mulberry, KS. On December 20, 1994, Donna married the love of her life, Howard Strong. She loved to croquet, put together puzzles, figure out word searches, fishing, and was very loved. There was never a stranger to Donna, only new potential friends. For 30 years, she worked as a waitress and loved every table she helped. Her family was her love, she enjoyed life, and will be very missed. Survivors include her husband, Howard Strong of Hutchinson, KS; her children, Tina C. Lynn-Sink of Denver, CO, Diane Kropp of Liberty, MO, Joy Hurley of Indianapolis, ID, Erikson Alridge of Roscommon, MI, and Michael Morelez of Wichita, KS; her sisters, Dorothy Elliott of Hutchinson, KS and Marcia Cotter of Arlington, KS; her brother, Gerald Cotter of Monument, CO; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Donna is preceded by her parents and her son, James W. Saylor. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2021 from 1-5pm at Old Mission Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main St Hutchinson, KS. A graveside will be held Friday, March 19, 2021 at 11am at Fairlawn Burial Park, 2401 Carey Blvd Hutchinson, KS.
Phillip Clayton Crawford - 57, died June 21, 2008, in Hutchinson, KS. He was born Aug. 31, 1950, in Muskogee, Okla., the son of Luther Allen and Oetta Nelson Crawford. He was a janitor and worked at Winchesters Food Service and the Salvation Army, both at Hutchinson. He enjoyed working with Antiques and Greyhound dogs. He is survived by two brothers, Luther Jr. and Keith Crawford, both of Hutchinson; five sisters, Alberta Holder, Hampton, Va., Ann Robinson, Great Bend, Iola Wright, Mildred Harness and Annette Crawford, all of Hutchinson; and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents; and three brothers, Marion Crawford Sr., Clifford Howard Crawford Sr., Carl Eugene Crawford; and a sister, Gwen P. Benbrook, preceded him in death. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service at Heritage Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Hutchinson.
Larry L. Cross, 48, formerly of Hutchinson, died Feb. 23, 1998, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita. He was born May 5, 1949, at West Point, N.Y., the son of Howard and Melva J. Ritter Cross. He was a 1968 graduate of Hutchinson, Kansas High School. A Stafford resident, he was a past owner of Cross-Roads Ceramics, Seaside, Calif., worked at Leisure Homestead, Stafford, and was a retired master sergeant with the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam and retiring in 1988. He belonged to the St. John Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Stafford American Legion. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. On June 28, 1968, he married Verlinda Wingert. Then, on Feb. 20, 1993, he married Verna Taylor at Stafford. She survives. Other survivors include: three daughters, Andrea Cross, Pratt, Christina Cross, Newton, and Jessica Goscha, Hutchinson; a stepson, Brian Taylor; a stepdaughter, Shawna Davis, Stafford; five grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren. His parents and a granddaughter, Brandy Ann Farr, preceded him in death. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. In lieu of flower, memorial may be sent to the Larry L. Cross Memorial Fund in care of Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
