Allen Gene Palmatier, 64, died Feb. 21, 2014 at Nickerson, KS. He was declared legally brain dead and his organs/tissue were donated. There was no funeral. He only attended HHS his junior year.

Dale E. Penka, 47, died Dec. 26, 1997, at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Rose Campus, Great. Bend, Ks. He was born Oct. 3, 1950, at Great Bend, the son of Edward L. and Evelyn J. Stoss Penka. A Great Bend resident since 1967, moving from Beaver, he was a pipe fitter for National Co-op Refinery, McPherson. On August 16, 1985, he married Barbara Hewitt, Great Bend. She survives. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Beaver, KS.

David Lynn Perrin, 65, died February 3, 2015 in Tahuya, WA, unknown cause. He was born on Nov. 11, 1949 in Little River, Kan. to Ralph and Emma May Perrin . In 1969, David enlisted in the USN and served with MU-11 EOD Special Forces in Vietnam and earned a Bronze Star, and was a PurpleHeart recipient. He was honorably discharged in 1973. David was preceded in death by his father and grandparents. He is survived by his stepson, mother, brother, and nieces. Services held at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home by the flagpole on February 20th at 1 p.m. Memorial donations can be made to the Cancer Society, Disabled American Vets, and the Native American Society.

Robert Lee Phillips, 68, of Brooksville, Fl. passed away August 7, 2017 at his home from cancer. He was born May 7, 1949 in Salina, Kansas and attended his sophomore and junior years at Hutchinson High School. He came to this area 40 years ago. He proudly served in the United States Army as a Spec. 4 power equipment operator and served 14 months in Viet Nam. He was a self-employed electrician and a member of Anchor Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Pat Phillips; son, Shane Phillips of Brooksville, Florida; daughter and son-in-law, Autumn and Johnny Erickson of Texas; brother, Fred Phillips of Oklahoma; sisters, Jackie Beach of Tennessee, Linda Phillips of Missouri, Teresa McCaughey of Kansas; grandchildren, Shane Phillips II, Jessie, Tommy, Ember, Emma Erickson. A Graveside Service with Military Honors was held August 11, 2017 at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.

Daniel S. Pierce, age 66, of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away from a house fire at his residence on Wednesday, January 25, 2017. Daniel was born in Monett, Missouri on September 6, 1950, the son of the late Phillip Pierce (died 2009) and Wanda Pierce (died 2017) in Wichita, KS. He had worked many years as Warehouse Manager with Daymark Foods prior to his retirement. Daniel loved fishing with his family and friends and was Baptist by faith. He is survived by his wife, Betty Evans Pierce of forty three years, son Daniel Steven Pierce, Jr., Villa Rica, Georgia, brothers Doug Pierce, Kansas and David Pierce, Texas and grandson. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Heather Lynn Pierce. In accordance with his wishes, his body was cremated.

Jerry Dale Polk, Sr., 62, died July 7, 2012, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, needing a liver transplant. He was born Dec. 12, 1949, in Hutchinson, the son of Calvin A.(died 2015) and Earline E. (Stoughton) Polk. He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1968, and then attended college on a baseball scholarship, playing first for McPherson College and then Kansas State University. After college he went on to play on a minor league team of the Detroit Tigers. He then became the general manager for the Nashville Sounds, a minor league team for the Yankees, and was most recently the general manager for the Fort Worth Drillers. Jerry enjoyed coaching for the American Legion Teams. In 1980 he married Ann Marie Russell. She preceded him in death. He then married Kim Disney on May 19, 2004, in Knoxville, Tenn. He is survived by his wife of Hurst, Texas. Other survivors include: two sons, Jerry Dale Polk, Jr. "J.J.", Argyle, Texas, and Jeffrey Polk and fiance Betty, Hutchinson; his mother, Earline Polk, Hutchinson; a brother, Earl Polk and wife Pam, Burrton; two stepchildren, Tom Disney Black and Heather Disney Black both of Hurst, Texas; a brother-in-law, John Murphy, Denver, Colo.; and a granddaughter, Jacy Polk, Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by his father Calvin (2015); sister, Debrah Ann Murphy. Memorial service July 11, 2012, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Polk Grandchildren Educational Fund, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N Main, Hutchinson, Ks 67501.
