Edith Ellen Wingert, 71, of Salina, formerly of Hutchinson, passed away February 24, 2021 at Salina Regional Health Center. She was born October 15, 1949 to Frederick and May Snell Markham in Hutchinson. She was a graduate of Hutchinson High School and had retired from Consolidated Manufacturing and later Walmart. On April 1, 1983, she married the love her of life, Raymond “Bud” Eugene Wingert in Hutchinson. He passed away June 25, 2019. Survivors include two daughters, Buffy (Jim) Countryman, Salina and Christina Cobb, Hutchinson; a step-son, Jeffery, Hutchinson; two step- daughters, Shelly Wingert, Hutchinson and Angie (Wes) Lawrence Hutchinson; a brother, Robert Dick, Sedona, AZ; two uncles, Paul Burwell and Carroll Snell, both of Hutchinson; 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son in law, Mike Cobb; and a brother, Fred Markham. A celebration of life service will be announced. Stella Josephine Marquez, 70, formerly of Hutchinson, died October 14, 2020, at her home. She was born January 16, 1950, in Hutchinson, to Juan Lopez and Louisa (Gomez) Marquez. Stella graduated from Hutchinson High School, class of 68, and attended Wichita State University. She worked for over 20 years as a cosmetologist at various salons in the area. Stella enjoyed cooking, crotcheting, and volunteering for community service organizations, such as being an interpreter for First Call for Help. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, South Hutchinson. She is survived by: her children, Lorenzo (Petrina) Davis, Sr. of Wichita, Marcos (Vaniesa) Davis of Houston, TX, Jose (Traci) Favela of Fort Worth, TX, and Tony (Stacy) Favela of Hutchinson; ten grandchildren; brothers, Pete (Ramona) Marquez and Juan Antonio Favela of Hutchinson. Stella was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Adolph Chavez, Kathryn Garcia, Tony Marquez, and Bobby Marquez. Parish Rosary will be 7 p.m. Monday, October 19, 2020, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 612 S. Maple, South Hutchinson. Lonnie Martin, 64, of Lindsborg, passed away March 24, 2015, from cancer. He was born November 5, 1950, the son of Robert and Barbara (Burch) Martin in Hutchinson, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Marty Martin. Lonnie is survived by his son, Jesse DuMars of Lindsborg, daughter, Angie Holm of Lindsborg, brother, Rob Martin, sister, Liz Martin, and four grandchildren.

Daniel E. Martinez was born Feb. 25, 1950, in Hutchinson, to Serafin (died 1982) and Jessie Martinez (died 1991). He passed away Aug. 6, 2008, at his home in Osceola, Mo after a brief illness. Survivors include: wife Virginia; his daughter, Lavon and husband Tim Orrell and their son Ryan; sister Mary and her husband, Jim Reinhart, Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Eddie Martinez (died 2016), Joe, Robert and Jack Martinez; sister Cecilia Lloyd (died 2014), brother-in-law, Marc Lloyd. Alan Ray ‘Pete’ Maxfield, 72, of Hutchinson, passed away peacefully October 31, 2021, at Hospice House. He was born June 22, 1949, in Hutchinson, to LeRoy V. ‘Bus’ and Dorothy F. ‘Dot’ (Renner) Maxfield. Pete graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1968. He served in the United States Navy from 1969 to 1973 and was deployed to Vietnam. Pete worked as a heavy equipment operator for Reno County. He enjoyed reading, loved music, and was fascinated with wolves and everything about them. Pete was of the Baptist faith. He married Leslie Ann Leonard. She died December 11, 2017. Pete is survived by: sons, Justin Maxfield of Sedgwick County, Danny Maxfield of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Paige, Harley, and Darian Maxfield; brothers, Jerry Maxfield of Hutchinson, Michael Maxfield (Edie) of Monument, CO; caregivers, Mike and Sally Chansler; and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 8, 2021, at Elliott Chapel. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park with military honors conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1-8 p.m. Sunday, with family present to receive friends from 2-4 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. Patrick David McLain passed away on May 26th, 2025 in Shoreline, WA due to complications of Huntington’s Disease. Born on January 17th, 1950 in Hutchinson, KS, he was the youngest of four children of James T. McLain and Juanita (Kennedy) F. McLain. Pat pursued his education with dedication, attending Hutchinson High School, Class of 1968, Hutchinson Junior College, the University of Kansas, and last at the University of Washington, where he earned his master's in electrical engineering in 1977. His career at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration began soon thereafter, where he participated in oceanic research, designing and building circuit boards for studies in the Pacific Ocean. He worked with an amazing, tight, productive group at NOAA’s Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory. Pat often traveled aboard NOAA ships, deploying and maintaining research instruments throughout the region. He received an award in Washington DC for his work. His work brought him great fulfillment, and he retired after an accomplished 38 year career. In 1973, Pat married Karen Wilson, and a few years later settled in the Seattle area. Two children were adopted, Kelly and Jae, completing the family. A devoted family, Pat cherished his time traveling with the family, particularly to Lake Winnipesaukee, NH, and to Kansas to visit family and friends. He loved being a dad and participated in their lives fully. Pat was preceded in death by his parents, his son Jae, in 2021, and his brother Mike, in 2023. In addition to his wife Karen and daughter Kelly, of Shoreline, WA, Pat is survived by his brother, Larry (Pat) McLain, and his sister, Merilyn Harris, of Hutchinson, and his beloved in-laws, nieces, and nephews of the McLain and Wilson families. Pat lived his life to the fullest and had wide-ranging passions, including hanging with his kids, reading (voraciously), skiing, gardening, boating at Lake Winnipesaukee, watching the Seahawks and KU basketball. He enjoyed jazz music and Tai Chi and most of all spending time with his family. He was a fun and loving husband and father. He will be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, intellect, devotion, his warm smile and beautiful blue eyes. Pat was an exceptional man, and he handled his Huntington’s Disease with grace, never complaining. A celebration of his life will be planned at a later date, honoring the legacy of a man who was deeply loved and respected. Mrs. Suzzie Irene Parker Moore, 70, of Savannah Lakes Village, McCormick, SC entered into rest on Wednesday, January 24, 2018. She was born April 18, 1947, and a native of Hutchinson, KS., where she attended her senior year at HHS. She had lived in Savannah Lakes Village, McCormick for the past 13 years. She was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church, owner of Moore’s Cleaning Service, and Mary Pinckney Outzs Order of Eastern Star #1 in Greenwood and Silver Leaf Chapter, Hutchinson, KS. She is survived by her loving husband, John W. Moore, Sr.; sons, Larry McVey and Richard McVey; daughter, Teresa McVey.

Donald L. Montgomery, 74, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2024 due to covid complications. He was born September 15, 1949 in Emporia, Kansas to Donald Harry and Alberta Faye (Vandenburg) Montgomery. Don loved helping people. That was his life’s calling from God, to serve others in need. He didn’t look down on anyone. He was a great example of a Godly Man. He enjoyed volunteering at the Salvation Army, mentoring children, testifying about his love of God, reading, and decorating. Don was a member of the Downtown Rotary Club before his health prevented him from attending. When he lived in Fayetteville, Arkansas, he was a member of the Lions Club. He loved giving back to his church and community. He loved a good party and fellowship with others. He was preceded in death by his parents; and half-brother, Harold Goheen. Survivors include his children, Faye Montgomery and Dawn (Montgomery) Collum; his children of the heart, Abigail Ramos and Brandi Goodwin; sister, Glenna (Montgomery) Noventy; half-sibling, Jesse Goheen; step-siblings, Laymond Goheen Jr., William Goheen, and Evelyn (Goheen) Hufford; 12 step-grandchildren; 9 step-great-grandchildren. Virgil Gene Moore, 30, Nickerson, Ks., was killed in a truck accident in Big Horn County, Mont., June 24, 1981. His stepdaughter, Paula, also died in the crash. Born Oct. 21, 1950, in Pratt and was a Vietnam Vet serving in the U.S. Navy. He married Sheila Shannon Aug. 9, 1975, in Hutchinson. Bruce W. Mourn, 46, a former Hutchinson resident, died from an automobile accident Dec. 1, 1996, at Wichita, Ks. He was born Sept. 30, 1950, at Newton. He attended Hutchinson schools, moving to Wichita in early 1970s. He was a welder and tool grinder for Boeing Aircraft. His wife Connie Mourn survives along with his daughter , Kim at home; mother, Rosemary of Hutchinson; brothers, Anthony, Nathan, both of Hutchinson, David of Wilmore, Ky., Douglas, Myron, Richard, all of Colorado Springs; sisters, Theresa Lewis of Ozawkie, Dianna of Colorado Springs, Nancy Fullerton of Hutchinson, Melinda Beyer of Sidney, Neb., Anna Rein of Maize.
